Resale Royalty

The other day, I was doing some work-work and had the tv on. There was a brand new show called Resale Royalty. Too lazy to get up to get the remote and change the channel, I decided to keep watching it.

The show follows Women's Closet Exchange, a resale store in St. Louis. Wait - St. Louis? I couldn't believe it either. Not that I am knocking St. Louis - I have been there and it is a beautify city. But who would think that this resale shop came form there. The Fashion capitol it is not.

The store is owned by Sue McCarthy along with her daughters and business partners, Diana Ford and Laura Maurice. The have a cast of characters employees who are also featured on the show.  Not only do they sell designers like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Pucci AND Gucci. They also buy in store as well as do closet shops. They have gone into some of the most beautiful closets I have ever seen in my life! There they assess the items the owner is thinking of selling. The show premiered back in April on the style network. I am not sure how I missed this.

I must say I was a bit shocked by how little the seller (supplier) is given.  But I am also not in the business or even a seller. That is until now! They access them by designer, if they think there is a market for it in their store and many other factors. Listening to them, it makes sense. AND the sellers are taking the offers.

It got me to thinking about some of the bags I have.  I posted a note on Facebook to see if anyone knew of resale shops with designer goods here in Indiana. My High School friend came to the rescue! Katie McCloud has owned several successful resale shops here in the Indy area. She now has a new venture - Trader Buck's Flea Market - she's in Booth 32. She told me about Simply Chic and the Toggery. The Toggery sells on consignment. Simply Chic does fast cash. I'd much rather deal with the fast cash.

I have actually sent Katie some pictures of some things I may be willing to sell. She thinks she may just have a buyer! How cool is that? We'll see what they offer. I won't be too disappointed because of the cost is too low, I'll just keep them.

I'll let you guys know what  hear..........

Have you seen the show? Have you purchased or sold designer items to a resale shop?
If so, what are your thoughts?

Rejuvenate! 2013

Rejuvenate! 2013

Every year, I have a Spa Day with my girlfriends. We have been doing this for almost 10 years now.
Typically, we go to a local spa and then have lunch.

This year, I have decided to change it up a bit:

  1.  It's going to happen at my home
  2. It's going to focus around Health, Fitness and Relaxation
  3. Changed the name to Rejuvenate! 2013
I'll have two rooms set aside for the spa rooms. We have an awesome massage therapist coming to do the massages.

We have a yoga instructor and a Zumba instructor coming for 4 mini sessions! I am so excited to share these classes with my attendees. Some of whom have never tried either and some who are pros!

We'll have my favorite frozen yogurt, Pinkberry catered - in addition to some awesome smoothies, salads and more healthy foods for the ladies to try.

The swag bags are super cute (from lulu lemon) and will be filled with some great little goodies!

I was just selected to host a House Party Morning Star Farms party! The great news is that I can do the party on the same day as our Spa Day (now known as Rejuvenate! 2013). As a hostess, I will receive coupons to buy products to serve, coupons for my guests and guess what? They are also supplying my guests with a swag bag! Two swag bags at a party - I can't wait to share.

The craziness is that the following week, I am hosting my sisters baby shower at our home! Was I crazy to plan so close together? Nope! I LOVE THIS STUFF..........................

I'll be posting about both after they happen.

What do you do to rejuvenate? I would love to hear......

Tasty Tuesday - Fish Tacos

I admit that I can be a bit of a Reality TV junkie. I used to have it bad for shows like Big Brother, Bridezillas, all of the Real Housewives and many more. I know lean more towards the HGTV reality shows - Love it or List it, House Hunters and Bryk by Brick (I think that is the name of it).

Well, this past weekend I was watching Tabitha "Something". It's a reality show where Tabitha Coffey comes in and fixes broken businesses. Typically, the businesses have poor leadership which leads to staff issues. This particular one was about a cafe. They featured fish tacos and that made me want some.

Pinterest is my go to  place for recipes now! I found a great one - pinned it and off I go to the store to get the ingredients to make them.

Of course, I made ours a low fat/calorie option based on the recipe below. They were simply divine!
I would certainly make these again.

The recipe came from Sunday's Chefs. Here is the recipe if you'd like to try it:

Grilled Fish Tacos

2 teaspoons ground cumin
2 tablespoons dried oregano
2 tablespoon chili powder
Coarse salt
1/2 cup olive oil
1/4 cup finely chopped cilantro (plus some for garnish)
2 pounds tilapia (about 4 fillets)
10 tortillas
Lime wedges, avocado, sour cream, cheese, tomatoes (or whatever toppings you prefer)

Stir together cumin, dried oregano, chili powder, and salt.  Add in extra-virgin olive oil and finely chopped cilantro.

Use a sharp knife to make shallow slits about 1 inch apart in each of the tilapia fillets.  Rub both sides of each fillet with the spice mixture then place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to 2 hours.

Prepare avocado, tomato, cheese, lime wedges, sour cream, and shredded cabbage for toppings.

Heat the grill to high, and cook the fish for about 5-7 minutes on each side.  Its hard to flip fish on the grill.  I use a grilling basket, but it can be done with a couple of spatulas and some practice.  You'll know they are ready when the fillets are opaque.  They should flake slightly when pressed in the center.

Serve on warm tortillas.  Allow guests to assembly their tacos with all their preferred toppings.

Crab fest

Crab fest

Crab fest by eegrego160 on Polyvore

I have always loved fresh seafood. My uncles on my maternal side were fishermen by trade. Every summer, we would visit coastal North Carolina for a month and enjoy wonderful seafood dishes made by family from the fish, shrimp, clams, etc. that the men brought home.

My Aunt Beverly makes THE best crab cakes I have ever tasted. I honestly don't ever order them in restaurants because I was spoiled by how good hers are. She doesn't use a lot of breading - basically pure crab meat. Her father also used to make these wonderful crab things called Deviled Crab. I think it may have been a crab cake stuffing which was filled in the crab shell for a wonderful presentation. Whatever it was was just the best thing I had ever tasted in my life!

My husband and I love to eat crab legs. We have often had crab leg day complete with all the trimmings. I don't need the butter- just give me the legs cooked in Old Bay!

Last year, we started what will be a yearly tradition with one of our neighbors - Crabfest. They love seafood as much as we do. We had gobs of great food! We are doing it again this month! Can not wait.

If you want to do your own home crab fest, it's pretty simple. Just follow the recipe on the back of the Old Bay container or go here for live boil or here for frozen.  Clearly fresh are better, but we have had them both ways.

Add some corn on the cob, boiled red potatoes, a salad and you have a delicious meal!

White Style

White Style

White Style by eegrego160 featuring leather handbags

I am a huge fan of the color white. I LOVE wearing white linen pants in the summer. They are just about the best thing since .............. I must say I am a bit scared to carry a white bag. I would be a nervous wreck worrying that it would get an ink stain on it! But this TB bag is cute!

DO you wear a lot of white?
